Iodine-125 is a radioactive isotope of iodine that has 53 protons & electrons and 72 nuetrons.Iodine-125 an isotope of iodine that is used in radiation therapy to treat prostate, lung, and cancer. It gives off gamma-rays with energies that max of 35 keV, which some are converted to x-rays. One of it's main uses is to help to treat cancer (Radiation therapy). To treat the cancer, radioactive ''seeds'' of Iodine-125 are placed into the tumor, by using ultrasound imaging.
